Carolyn Pope Welch, age 77, of Celina, Texas, passed away July 14, 2020. Carolyn was born May 29, 1943, in Celina, to William and Hortense (Ellison) Pope. She married Johnnie B. Welch on December 10, 1970, in McKinney, Texas.
Carolyn will be remembered most for her love of her family and her passion for life. She loved a simple life, it was not meant to be complicated. She was known for her extraordinarily witty sense of humor and her strength. She and the love of her life, Johnnie, traveled extensively throughout their lives. Padre, Big Bend, Colorado, Bahamas, and South Africa were her most memorable destinations and all of them were with her family. Their annual camping trip to Padre was a tradition they continued for over 30 years. She was the apple of her mom’s eye and a legend for her children and grandchildren. We will miss her, however, celebrate that she is now in the presence of our Lord and Savior.
She is survived by her husband, Johnnie Welch of Celina, Texas; children, Stephanie Ann Welch of Aubrey, Texas, William Robert Kubiek of Dallas, Texas, Karol Kristine Johnson and husband, Dean of McKinney, Texas, Karla Lea Descoteau and husband, David of Gunter, Texas, and Mindy Linn Koehne and husband, Jason of Celina; mother, Hortense Pittman of Celina; grandchildren, Jaden Patterson, Bradford, Donelle, Mikah, Emily, Katlyn, and Justin Johnson, Easton Descoteau, Evan and Ashley Koehne.
A private graveside will be held.
