Mancy “Carolyn” Morgan, 77, of Allen, Texas went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 12, 2023. Memorial services will be at 12:00 noon, Saturday, September 2, 2023 in the chapel of Cottonwood Creek Church, 1015 Sam Rayburn Tollway, Allen, Texas where she was a faithful member.
Carolyn was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on September 12, 1945 to Ed and Virla Hodgkins. She grew up on a farm with her family and shared so many great memories over the years. Carolyn graduated from Petrolia High School where she played basketball and was selected as “most beautiful” of her high school class. She married Ron Morgan on June 15, 1979 in Wichita Falls and they lived there until Ron retired in 2002. Carolyn worked at Sprague Electric, where she met Ron, taught cosmetology at Aladdin’s Beauty College and cut hair for the elderly at Presbyterian Manor in Wichita Falls for over 15 years. As a hobby, she learned how to paint and even taught painting classes in Wichita Falls. Carolyn loved spending time at her son’s retail fireworks business over the years and always wanted to be there when the doors were open to help sell and bag up fireworks, talk to the customers, and hand out candy to all the small children that visited.
Carolyn and Ron moved to their lake house on Cedar Creek Lake in Malakoff, Texas where she loved to fish, being out on the lake nearly every day and drinking coffee each morning on their deck that overlooked the lake. One of her greatest treasures was being “Grana” to her grandchildren.
She was always in church no matter where she lived. Carolyn faithfully attended many years at Calvary Baptist Church and Victory Baptist Church in Wichita Falls, First Baptist Church Malakoff, and later in life, Cottonwood Creek Church in Allen where she was part of the Women of Faith Sunday school class. She sang in the choir at several churches and taught Sunday school, children’s church and VBS for many years. Carolyn loved serving the Lord! Her many years of faithfulness eventually helped lead her husband Ron to accept the Lord!
She was preceded in death by her husband Ron, her parents Ed and Virla Hodgkins, brothers John and Danny Hodgkins, and sister Edwina Sumrall. Carolyn is survived by her son, Cody and wife, Sherri of Murphy, Texas; granddaughter, Haley and husband, Chance Kennedy of Prosper, Texas; grandson, Christopher and wife, Ashley Covington of Garland, Texas; great-grandsons, Cooper and Callan Kennedy.
In her last couple years of life, Carolyn was cared for by so many wonderful ladies and nurses from The Key and Three Oaks Hospice. Her son considers them angles on this earth.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cottonwood Creek Church at 1015 Sam Rayburn Tollway in Allen, Texas 75013.
