Carolyn Ann Hicks, 81, passed away on September 3, 2026. Carolyn raised her family in Frisco, Texas, where she lived in the same home on Oak Street for 55 years. More recently, she moved to Tioga, Texas, to be closer to her family. Carolyn’s life was centered around her family and being there when she was needed. She married Howard “Finney” Hicks on April 15, 1962, and spent many years caring for him and standing by his side. She was a selfless woman who often put the needs of the people she loved ahead of her own.
Carolyn retired from the United States Postal Service after many years of work. At home, she was known for making sourdough bread and some of the best pies around. She was also always up for a good adventure and was the kind of person you wanted along for the ride. Whether it was a trip, an outing, or simply spending time together, Carolyn was good company and happy to be part of it.
Carolyn had a little sass to her, and when something irritated her, her family knew the huffy breath that was sure to follow. Her sons especially loved giving her a hard time and seeing if they could get a reaction out of her. She usually took it in stride, even when the joke was on her, and those familiar back-and-forth moments became part of what made being with her feel like home. Most importantly, Carolyn knew Jesus, and her family takes comfort in knowing she is with Him now.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Jasper and Thelma Fisher, and her husband, Howard “Finney” Hicks.
She is survived by her daughter, Tricia Brown and husband Scott of Mabank, Texas; sons, Terry Hicks and wife Murri of Tioga, Texas, and Timothy Hicks of Denton, Texas.
She is also survived by her grandsons, Brandon Brown and wife Jessica of Mabank, Texas, and Shaun Brown of Mabank, Texas; and granddaughters, Whitney Brown of Mabank, Texas, Casey Hicks-Kaker and husband Cole of Gunter, Texas, and Reilley Hicks-Hernandez and husband Rudy of Tioga, Texas.
Her great-grandchildren include great-grandsons Liam, Carter, Brayden, Linkoln, and Dalton Brown and Jett Hernandez; and great-granddaughters Devin Hernandez, Olivia Brown, and Ramsey Kaker.
Carolyn is also survived by her sisters, Connie Wade of Paradise, Texas, Linda Wyatt of Frisco, Texas, Sandra Buckaloo of Whitesboro, Texas, and Deborah Pelt and husband Craig of Collinsville, Texas; and her brother, Michael Fisher and wife Rhynah of Whitesboro, Texas. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Carolyn will be remembered for the way she showed up for her family, her selflessness, her faith, her sass, those unmistakable huffy breaths, and for always being such a good person to have along for the ride.
The family will receive friends during a Visitation, Sunday, September 6, 2026, from 1 PM to 3 PM, at Turrentine Jackson Morrow, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, TX, 75013. Interment with Graveside Service will follow at 3:30 PM, at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, TX, 75013.
