Carolyn A. Black passed away on November 2, 2023, in Plano, Texas at the age of 79. She was born to Charles and Dorsey (Gray) Abercrombie on January 20, 1944, in Birmingham, Alabama.

Carolyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was an avid University of Alabama football fan. She loved owning and operating American Saddlebred horses, collecting American made antiques and collectibles, sewing, cooking, and spending time at the beach.

She is survived by her husband, James Ronald Black of Plano, Texas. Ron and Carolyn were married at her mother’s house in Birmingham, Alabama on August 9, 1974. They had four children: son, Daryle Johnson (Christina) of Dallas, Texas; daughter, Amy Kalthoff (J.C.) of Austin, Texas; daughter, Ronda Black (Mike Buruato) of Dallas, Texas; son-in-law, Andy Mock; grandchildren, Matthew Mock, Gaige Mock, Tristian Mock, Natalie Kalthoff, and Johnny Kalthoff; great-grandchildren, Elliott Mock and Emma Mock. Ron’s career required moves to Brandon, Florida, Westfield, New York, and Plano, Texas. Carolyn viewed each move as a new adventure and opportunity, where the children would experience new activities and make new friends.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Lana Johnson Mock; and a sister, Charlotte Abercrombie Carter.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 10, 2023, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. Following the service, a procession will make its way to Ridgeview Memorial Park for a committal service.

Following the committal, the family will welcome guests to their home located at 3312 Teakwood Lane, Plano, Texas 75075.
