Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Carol June King

Carol June King, entered into the presence of her Savior and Lord on Easter morning, April 5, 2026. Her life was spent in devotion to family, faith, education, and music. Born on December 4, 1938, and raised in Celina, Texas, Carol’s roots run deep in the town she always called home.

In 1956 Carol married her high school sweetheart, Bob King, and together they built a life of love and service. The couple farmed in Celina while raising their four children and were married for nearly 56 years before Bob’s passing in 2012.

Carol pursued her passion for music by earning a degree in Music Education from Texas Woman’s University in 1975 and a Master’s in Voice in 1984.

For many years, Carol shared her talents as a music educator in McKinney and Celina schools, where she inspired countless students with her dedication to music. A gifted pianist, organist, and vocalist, she served the congregation at First Baptist Celina for decades. She taught Sunday school, led Bible studies, and shared her wisdom and love of God’s word with others. In addition to her musical talents, Carol enjoyed embroidery, rug hooking and writing. Carol leaves a lasting legacy.

Carol is preceded in death by her husband, Bob, son, Bobby, and daughter Jana.

She is survived by her daughter, Julie Needum and husband, Tommy Needum of Celina, and daughter, JoEllyn Hooker and husband, David Hooker of Canyon Lake; grandchildren, Ann Geer and Andrew Needum, Trey King, Jalyn Brungardt, Jessica Pearson, and Spencer King, Kathrin Basham, Preston Furtick, and Parker Furtick, Matthew Hooker and Morgan Behrens and 23 great-grandchildren; brothers, Rusty Baldridge and Mike Baldridge and their families. 

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at First Celina Baptist Church 841 North Preston Road, Celina, Texas 75009.

The family will receive friends during a visitation on Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m. until service time at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made in Carol’s honor to First Celina Baptist Church.
