Carol Ann (Knapp) Lister was born on January 12, 1938 and entered Heaven’s gates on July 30, 2018. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Carol had a joy of life and an entertaining sense of humor. She loved spending time with her family and friends and especially enjoyed the outdoors. Carol could frequently be found in her garden or sitting by the lake. She especially loved watching any of her grandchildren’s sporting events. Carol loved kids and had a passion for teaching. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Education from Wayne State University and taught school for over 30 years. In 1992, she retired from the Grand Blanc School system in Grand Blanc, Michigan where she taught 4th and 5th grades most of her career. Carol was married to the love of her life, Jim, for 46 years until his death in 2007. They raised their family in Grand Blanc, Michigan. After retirement, they split their time between Higgins Lake, Michigan and Spring Hill, Florida. She later went to live with her daughter, Kim, in Columbia, South Carolina and then Frisco, Texas.
Carol is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Lister McGill and husband, Rick of Frisco, Texas; son, Scott Lister and wife, Susie of Lewiston, Michigan; grandchildren, Kelsey McGill of Charlotte, North Carolina, Logan McGill of Clemson, South Carolina, Ryan Lister and wife, Ashley of Flushing, Michigan, Alex Lister of Holland, Michigan and Katie Lister of Lewiston, Michigan; great-granddaughter, Natalie Jane Lister of Flushing, Michigan; brother, Tom Knapp of Macomb Township, Michigan; sister, Joan Hale of Linden, Michigan; and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Vera Knapp; and her husband, James Russell Lister.
A memorial graveside inurnment will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly, Michigan on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. with a Celebration of Life to follow at 6742 River Road, Flushing, Michigan.
