Carmaleta Johnson passed away July 9, 2023 in McKinney, Texas at the age of 89. She was born to Leonard E. and Lora (Early) Russell on February 22, 1934 in Crane, Texas.
Carmaleta graduated from Crane High School and went on to get her Master’s degree in Education from the University of North Texas. On June 9, 1951, she married Donald E. Johnson in Crane, Texas. Carmaleta was of the Christian faith. She worked for 28 years in the Irving ISD teaching 3rd and 4th grade. Carmaleta loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her son, Layne Johnson and wife, Donna of Allen, Texas; daughter, Vickie Johnson of Ponder, Texas; daughter-in-law, Elia Johnson of Euless, Texas; grandson, Matthew Hickman of Ponder, Texas; grandson, Daniel Nulisch of Ponder, Texas; grandson, Donald Johnson of Bar Harbor, Maine; granddaughter, Jennifer Johnson of Frisco, Texas; grandson, Max Johnson of Vancouver, Washington; grandson, Tyler Johnson of Fort Worth, Texas; five great-grandchildren, and 2 great great-grandchildren.
Carmaleta was preceded in death by her son, Tommy Johnson and husband, Donald Johnson.
