Carlos Covarrubias Jr. passed away on March 2, 2009 in Dallas, Texas. Known to his friends and family as Charlie, he was born on April 16, 1977 in Harlingen to the late Carlos Covarrubias, Sr. and Dianne Saenz.
Charlie graduated from King High School in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1995, as well as The University of Texas in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. In Austin, Charlie met his beloved wife, Joy whom he married in 2003. Charlie and Joy moved to Dallas in 2002 to pursue his Masters degree in Physical Therapy from UT Southwestern. His hobbies included a love of all sports, particularly the Longhorn Football Team.
Possessed of a sharp sense of humor and contagious laugh, Charlie was sure to brighten any room. Charlie was friendly and quick with a kind word to whoever he met. Family, Loyalty, Camaraderie and Fair-Play were his beloved virtues. As known to his friends and family as the guy with the big heart who would do anything for them.
Charlie is survived by his wife Joy, mother Dianne Saenz step-father Angel Saenz, God parents Alberto and Iris Garcia, paternal grandmother Elvia Covarrubias, step brothers Marco and Armando Saenz, half brother David Covarrubias, half sister Carla Covarrubias, and many friends and family whom were blessed to have been a part of his life..
A service for friends will held from at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home, 8520 Main Street, Frisco, Texas. A prayer service is to take place on Thursday, March 5, 2009, 7 PM at Seaside Memorial Funeral Home, Reid Chapel in Corpus Christi. The funeral will be held on Friday, March 6, 2009 at 10 AM at the Reid Chapel. The pallbearers will be Armando Saenz, Marco Saenz, Buddy Munoz, Jason Gully, Jeffrey Mott, Steven Rogers, Scott Thompson, Christopher Thompson, and Mike Garcia.
