Carl Hampton Benton, Jr.

Carl Hampton Benton, Jr. of McKinney, Texas passed away January 19, 2021 at the age of 79.  He was born on April 14, 1941 to Carl “Ike” Hampton Benton, Sr. and Bobbie Claire (Young) Benton in Little Rock, Arkansas.  Carl was a good athlete at England High School lettering in basketball, baseball, and football.  He studied at Henderson College in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.  Carl served his country proudly in the United States Army serving active duty for six months and in the Army Reserve for over five years.  He was married to Floydelle Pannell from 1962-1975, they had two children.  He later was married to Eleanor “Pinkie” Powell from 1976-1985.  Carl was a park supervisor at Ridgeview Memorial Park.  He worked at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home for over 23 years.  He was a member of Cottonwood Creek Church in Allen, Texas.  Carl was a loving father, grandfather, and brother who will be missed dearly by his family, friends, and co-workers.

He is survived by his son, Bruce Benton and wife, Whitney of Allen, Texas; daughter, Carla Benton of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, Taylor Trevino of Dallas, Texas, Selah Benton and Davis Benton, both of Allen, Texas; brother, Neil Benton of Glen Heights, Texas; nephew, Nathan Benton of North Hollywood, California.  And also his beloved Arkansas cousins and their families.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Ike and Bobbie Benton.

In support of our local, state, and federal govt including CDC directives and to protect the physical health, safety and well-being of our community, only a limited number of guests will be allowed to attend the funeral service.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 25, 2021 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas.  The service will also be live streamed at TJMfuneral.com on Carl’s obituary page by clicking on the following link:  https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/carl-hampton-benton-jr.  After the service, the recorded live steam will be available for viewing a the same link location.

However, when the maximum number of guests are reached, those who would like to honor Carl and show their support to his family may remain at the funeral home in your vehicle, where you can watch the live streamed service on your personal device (laptop, tablet or smartphone) or listen through a designated FM radio channel.

Interment is to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen.

A “come and go” visitation will be held Sunday afternoon from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen.  Only a limited number of guests will be allowed to enter the funeral home facility at any one time to maintain social distancing and masks will be required.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Salvation Army.
