Carl Ulan Black, Jr.

Carl Ulan Black, Jr. of Frisco, Texas passed away December 27, 2022 at the age of 77.  He was born on August 7, 1945 to Carl Ulan Black and Baby Ruth (Norris) Black in McKinney, Texas.  Carl was a 1963 graduate of the historical Doty High School formerly located in Collin County.  He was a retired veteran from the United States Air Force where he served proudly for 25 years.  Carl also served with the United States Army from 1963 to 1965 before transferring into the United States Air Force.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing.  Carl also enjoyed spending time with family and playing dominos with family and friends.  He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.  Carl will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his sons, Christopher Glenn Thornton and wife, Mona of McKinney, Texas and Carl Mosley of Fort Worth, Texas; daughters, Cynthia Briscoe of Richardson, Texas, Kyra Jackson of McKinney, Texas, and Simone Dixon of Dallas, Texas; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sisters, LaEunice Udom, Dorothy Davis-Smith, Verna Lynch, and Alicia Armstrong; brother, Willie Ray Davis “Chubby” and a host of other loving family and friends.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Baby Ruth Black; brother, Joe Irving Davis; and sister, Thelma Davis Stevenson.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 6, 2023 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. The family will receive family and friends during a visitation on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
