IN LOVING MEMORY

Carl Leon Moore

Aug 20 1937 - Nov 29 2022

Carl Leon Moore, age 85 passed away on November 29, 2022 in Blue Ridge TX.

In his late teens he joined the Navy and was stationed on the USS Lexington CV16.  He was a Journeyman Lineman for many years working for contractors such as Sturgeon, PAR, LE Myer and others.  He worked under the IBEW Union for 55 years and would have received his pin in December 2022.  During his Lineman years he worked several hurricanes such as Camille in 1969, in Mississippi.  It was the second most catastrophic storm to hit the United States with over $1.42 Billion in damages.  July 31, 1976 the Big Thompson Canyon flood destroyed everything in its path going down the canyon and ultimately killed 143 people.  Carl ran crews in that canyon to restore power poles and because of the rocky terrain they had to use dynamite to be able to set the poles on the side of the canyon walls. We always joked that he loved to blow things up.

He was always a cowboy at heart and loved horses.  He raised and sold horses, tack, saddles and showed horses at quarter horse shows.  He liked to attend Rodeos and would go with his daughter to barrel racing competitions at horse shows.

Carl was raised a Seventh Day Adventist and for many years was active in his church and enjoyed working with the youth group.

Carl retired 22 years ago and kept busy mowing pastures and helped others with electrical work in the Blue Ridge, Murphy, McKinney, and Floyd areas.  He had a reputation of being an honest man and wouldn’t charge people what he should for the work he did for them.

He is survived by wife, Nancy B. Miller-Moore of Blue Ridge, a son, Robert E. Moore & wife Kristine King-Moore of Anna TX. Daughter Patricia A. Moore & her Significant Other – Derek Armstrong of Princeton, TX, and a Son-in-law, Pete Smith of Blue Ridge TX.
