Carl John Funk, Jr. of Plano, Texas passed away on March 1, 2023 at the age of 74. He was born on June 16, 1948 to Carl John and Elizabeth (Kanizsa) Funk in New York, New York. Carl graduated from Notre Dame High School in Niles, Illinois and then received an engineering degree from the University of Illinois. He worked at Arkwright Boston Mutual Insurance Company where he met Jean, his wife of 37 years. In 1986, Carl was offered a promotion that brought him and his family to California and later to Texas.
Carl was a devoted husband, father, and grandpa. He loved a good hug from his kids and especially from his grandkids. Carl loved the Cubs and the Bears and a good round of golf. Later in life, he was the dancing king where he kept his fellow residents entertained at Grand Brook Memory Care.
He is survived by his children, Jennifer Sloan and husband, Shawn of Anna, Texas, Pamela Funk of Anna, Texas, and Daniel Funk and his wife, Cassandra of Mt. Prospect, Illinois; his grandchildren, Shawn Patrick, Jackson, Alexis, Mason, Luke, and Nolan; and his sister, Gerlyn Funk of Des Plaines, Illinois.
Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Ellen Funk; and his parents.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 9, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Allen, 201 E McDermott Dr., Allen, 75002.
