Carl Day Marion

Carl Day Marion of Allen, Texas passed away on August 19, 2018 at the age of 82.  He was born on September 28, 1935 to Francis Hobson and Lillie Maude (Day) Marion in Frisco, Texas.  Carl was raised in Frisco, Texas and graduated from Frisco High School in 1954. He then attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. Carl proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957.  In 1962, he married Sherry McLaughlin in Dallas, Texas. Carl worked for Texas Instruments for almost 40 years, retiring in 1996. He loved the outdoors and was always busy doing something. Carl loved traveling and spending time with friends and family at the lake house or with the “breakfast club”.  He enjoyed working with his hands, whether it was woodworking, gardening or just tinkering in his shop.  After retirement, he volunteered with Red Cross for over ten years where he worked in logistics.  Carl spent time at Ground Zero and Hurricane Katrina and was recognized as volunteer of the year by the Red Cross in 2002.  His greatest source of pride was his children, grandchildren and extended family. 

Carl is survived by his children, Kim Marion of Santa Ana, California, Dawn Jesseph of Buena Park, California, Mike Marion and wife, Jolee of Allen, Texas and Scott Marion of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Rachel Wallace, Sarah Thunstrom, Jamie De La Mora, Jody Sanchez, Cooper Marion, Jackson Marion and Jake Marion; great-grandchildren, Alana, Saige, Caylee, Joey, Matthew, Sonny, Jacob and Lydia; sister, Peggy Blacketer; very special friend, Sandy Byrd; and numerous other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Lillie Maude Marion; wife, Sherry Marion; brothers, James Marion and Francis Marion; sisters, Marie (Rhea) Deaton and Betty Sue Marion; and step-father, Bratton Shoulders. 

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.  Interment will follow at Allen Cemetery in Allen, Texas.  The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
