IN LOVING MEMORY

Carlé Smith

Nov 24 1939 - Jul 14 2011

Carlé Smith, born November 24, 1939, left a loving family on July 14, 2011. She was a pioneer in the Texas legal profession and a Charter Member of the Legal Assistant’s Division of the State Bar of Texas. She assisted her husband, Donald R. Smith, as trial assistant in courts throughout Texas. Carlé authored numerous articles, and was a frequent speaker at State Bar programs. Her innovations set the standard for paralegals and many of the practices used in the legal profession today. After retirement she became an avid fisherwoman, motorcyclist, and gracious host. She was known to be more attentive to the needs of others than herself. She was a favorite of children, especially her nine grandchildren. She loved to take care of birds and other wildlife, and particularly enjoyed her backyard and its beautiful creek. Carlé was a resident of McKinney, Texas. She is survived by her loving husband, Donald R. Smith, daughter Tanya Sue Smith, and sons J. Allen Smith, D. Robert Smith, and Patrick N. Smith. She is also survived by her brothers Bill Harden and Rodney Harden. Her sisters Helen Shifrin and Rose Carver predeceased her. Viewing begins at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, July 17, 2011, at the Turrentine Jackson Morrow Ridgeview Memorial Park, located at Highway 75, McKinney, Texas. Family visitation will be at 6:00 P.M.
