Captain Edward H. Meier III, born on November 3, 1956, peacefully passed away on December 24, 2016 at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, Texas surrounded by the love from family. Throughout all of the success and achievements in Eddie’s life, aviation and family were his biggest and most prestigious accomplishments. While Edward loved his career as a pilot, flying was also a lifestyle that he shared with friends and family. From the beginning he was raised with an interest in airplanes and aviation by his father, Edward Harvey Meier Jr. and mother, Jerri Weaver Meier. As a pilot since the age of 15, Edward was honored to be a Captain for Southwest Airlines for 30 years. He spent all leisure time building and flying his airplanes while raising his family in the world of aviation. Through his airline career, Ed was able to meet the love of his life, Gina Knight Meier, with whom he shared 21 years of cherished marriage. He is survived by his wife Gina, daughter, Skyla Ryan Meier, two sons, Taylor Edward Meier and Chancellor Glen Miller, grandson, Mylan Glen Miller, mother, Jerri Weaver Meier, and brothers, Butch Meier and Perry Meier. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Harvey Meier Jr.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you keep Ed’s vision alive by giving back to St. Jude’s Medical Foundation with a contribution to their mission, or volunteering at the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Another foundation that is of importance to the Meier Family is the American Liver Foundation where they strive to research all aspects that contribute to or prevent liver disease.
