Capt. William "Bill" Boetting (Ret.)

Capt. William (Bill) Boetting (Ret.) of Plano, Texas passed away on November 11, 2017 at the age of 89. Bill was born on New Year’s Eve, 1927, to William and Maude (Kressley) Boetting in Mauch Chunk, Pennsylvania. At the age of 17 Bill joined the United States Navy and served for 3 years prior to enlisting in the Air Force. While in the Air Force he began as an air traffic controller and advanced to a contract administration officer. He received numerous awards and medals during his service and retired as Captain after 20 years of service. His colleagues remember him as a level headed, friendly negotiator who looked for the positive in any situation he was dealing with. After retiring from the Air Force, he continued his career in contract administration with a major aerospace corporation. After his second retirement from the aerospace industry he received an Honorary Degree in Bear Hugs from his beloved daughters, Lynn and Nancy. He also devoted much of his time to various activities at the Resurrection Lutheran Church as well as improving his knowledge of local golf courses, conducting regular taste tests of Blue Bell ice cream and working on an extensive honey do list.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Bernice, his youngest daughter Susan, his parents and his brother Charles.

Bill will be missed by his daughters, Nancy Pierson of Frisco, Texas, and Lynn Harrell and husband, Jim of Dallas, Texas; son-in-law, Bill White of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Jennifer Mackey and husband, Adam, Rob and Regan White; great-grandchild, Brylee Mackey; sister, Carolyn Crilley and her family of Allentown Pennsylvania and many friends.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday November 17, 2017 at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen Texas 75013. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen Texas 75013.

Memorial gifts may be given to the Air Force Aid Society.
