IN LOVING MEMORY

Buena Olivia Stevenson

Aug 26 1936 - Sep 19 2019

Buena Olivia Stevenson was born in Grand Cane, Louisiana, to Jesse Olivia and Gilmer Stuart Pittard August 26, 1936. Buena went home to be with Jesus on September 19, 2019.

Buena was a loving wife, a nurturing mother, doting grandmother and great grandmother. Buena is survived by her  husband Wayne Stevenson, her daughter Alison and husband Paul Ikard, son Stuart and wife Linda, seven grandchildren, John Paul Ikard and wife April, Will Ikard, Luke Ikard, Andrew Ikard and wife Denise, Quinton Ikard, John Stevenson , Victoria and husband Lee Farmer. She had two great granddaughters Lily and Charlie Ikard. She is also survived by her brother Gilmer and wife Joann Pittard.

Buena trusted Jesus Christ as her Savior and focused her life serving Him. She met Wayne Stevenson in her sophomore year at Louisiana Tech and they married after their graduation on March 9, 1958. From 1958 through 1973 Buena and her family traveled as Wayne’s job moved them from Louisiana to Cleveland, Phoenix, Boston, San Francisco, Schenectady and finally to Plano Texas. Buena was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Plano for 46 years and served as a choir member, and as strong and willing worker in Sunday School. Over the years she served on many church committees including the renovation committee and stewardship committee.

Buena was a dedicated and committed board member of Dallas Baptist University Board of Trustees and served as President of the DBU Women’s Auxiliary. DBU presented her their “Ruth” award in honor of her service.

Infamous in her ability to plan and organize, she always  delivered a job well done. Buena was creative and artistic as a seamstress as well with watercolors. She was a prolific artist and served as a member of The Plano Art Association. She even found time to play team tennis.

Buena was generous to anyone in need and a loyal friend. She honored and served her parents until their deaths. She was deeply devoted to her family through the many sacrifices and pain. Buena was always enduring, unselfish, patient and forgiving. Her love never failed. Steadfast and resolute in her faith, Buena’s life radiated with the beauty of the rarest gems. Buena was a wondrous evidence of God’s tender, guiding hand.
