Bryan Edwin Sloane, 74-year-old resident of Leonard, went home to heaven on Tuesday, February 7, 2017. Bryan was born August 3,1942, at Beaumont, Texas. His parents were Bernice Elton and Juanita Belle Claiborne Sloane. They were members of the First Baptist Church of Beaumont, where he made a profession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. He graduated from South Park High School in Beaumont, where he played varsity football. The family also spent many hours out on the water, waterskiing. Bryan was a rated member of the National Waterski Association. He was a graduate of Lamar University in Beaumont where he earned his BS and MS in Mathematics. He married Sharon Kay Blevins June 8, 1968 at Beaumont. Together they moved to Houston where they raised two lovely daughters. They were long-time members of Sagemont Church in Houston. After teaching college, he worked for many years as a systems engineer in the computer industry. He retired to Leonard, where he enjoyed attending volleyball games, spending time with his sister on her ranch and attended the First Baptist Church of Leonard, where he was well-loved and will be missed.
He is survived by his daughters: Stephanie Kay Sloane and Stacy Lynn Sloane, both of Irving; his sister: Carol Eileen Sloane of Celeste; his sisters-in-law: Barbara Jo Blevins Lutz of Waxahachie and Joyce Ann Blevins Thames of Checotah, Oklahoma; his cousin: Betty D. Traxler of Troy, Michigan; his 8 nephews, 9 nieces, 8 great nephews, 4 great nieces and 3 great-great nieces and nephews; his family by love: Wilson and Eva Fryar of Celeste; his brother-in-law: Geno Robinson of Sacramento, California.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-law: Evelyn McCuan Blevins and Arthur Merle Blevins; his sister-in law: Karen Sue Blevins Robinson and his two brothers-in-law, John Lutz and Larry Thames.
Funeral Services for Mr. Bryan Edwin Sloane, 74 year old Leonard resident, are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Monday, February 13, 2017, at the First Baptist Church of Leonard. Brother Chad Leutwyler will officiate. Family viewing and visitation will be Sunday, February 12, 2017 from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M.
