Bruce W. Fischer, 57, of McKinney, Texas, passed away on December 25, 2024 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.
Bruce was born on April 27, 1967, to Henry Charles Fischer and Janice Faye (Doerr) Fischer in Fort Sam Houston, Texas. As a military child, he lived many places during his youth.
His mother married Gary Tooke in 1979 and they became a blended family with six boys, residing in Killeen, Texas. Bruce graduated in 1985 from Killeen High School, then joined the United States Marine Corps to serve his country, where he was a SHF Communications Technician. After serving his active duty, he returned to Killeen to attend Central Texas College.
While attending college, Bruce met Paula through a mutual friend. After completing college, Bruce moved to Lewisville, Texas in 1991 to start his career and live closer to Paula. The two were married on June 26, 1993 in Plano, Texas, and shared a beautiful life together. They were blessed with twin daughters, Alexandra (Alex) and Isabelle (Izzie) on November 26, 2005.
Bruce built a successful career at Cisco Systems, where he dedicated 27 years of service. He most recently worked as a Technical Solutions Architect, a role he approached with expertise, passion, and professionalism. He earned the respect from colleagues and partners because of his dedication to doing the right thing. He especially enjoyed the times he volunteered as Santa’s helper at Children’s Medical Center, where they were able to have Santa visit children in their hospital room through video technology.
A man of faith, Bruce and his family were members of Chase Oaks Church for 15 years. He was known for his integrity and devotion to his family and friends. Bruce enjoyed spending time scuba diving, archery, hunting, snow skiing and learning about technology. He was a model father, always participating in his daughters' activities, whether it was coaching at their soccer games, helping with Girl Scouts activities, watching their swim meets or volleyball games.
Bruce is survived by his beloved wife, Paula Fischer of McKinney, Texas; his daughters, Alex and Izzie of McKinney, Texas; his mother, Janice Faye Tooke (Gary) of Harker Heights, Texas; his brothers, Michael Fischer (Donna) of Phillipston, Massachusetts, David Fischer (Patty) of Paducah, Kentucky, Bret Tooke (Michelle) of Fort Worth, Texas, Bryan Tooke (Kim) of Weatherford, Texas, and Philip Tooke (Nancy) of Fort Worth, Texas; brother-in-law Collin Duke (Angel) of Little Elm, Texas; and a host of other loving family members and friends.
Bruce was preceded in death by his father, Henry Charles Fischer, his father-in-law Clarence ‘Skip’ Geary and mother-in-law Sharon Geary.
A funeral service to honor Bruce's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013 and will be officiated by Pastor Peter Park from Chase Oaks. Following the service, a procession will make its way to Ridgeview West Memorial Park for a committal service. Bruce will be laid to rest near Paula’s parents, Clarence (Skip) and Sharon Geary.
The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday, January 3, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
