Brian Sheldon Mock, of Gunter, Texas, passed away on September 24, 2026, at the age of 61.
Brian was born on April 4, 1965, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, to Dale Sheldon Mock and Barbara Ann (Adams) Mock. He grew up in Pennsylvania, Illinois, and Texas and graduated from Richardson High School. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Texas.
Brian built a distinguished career in financial services and operations, spanning decades of leadership and service. He spent 15 years with Ford Motor Credit before joining AmeriCredit, where he served as Senior Vice President of Operational Services and as the business partner responsible for the company’s CRM project. In 2002, he was promoted to Executive Vice President of Call Center Operations, overseeing the day-to-day operations of five collection centers throughout the United States and Canada. Brian later served as Executive Vice President of Consumer Services at GM Financial.
His career was defined not simply by the positions he held or the successes he achieved, but by the people he led, mentored, encouraged, and influenced along the way. Brian possessed an extraordinary wealth of knowledge yet carried it with humility. He was a gentle force, a peacemaker, protector, and trusted soul whose wisdom and quiet strength made people feel safe.
For all he accomplished professionally, one of the greatest and most important roles of Brian’s life began in 1990, when he became a father. Over the years that followed, he built a family centered on love, guidance, and showing up for his three children. He remained a devoted and deeply involved father throughout every stage of their lives. His children describe him as a relentless teacher of life and faith and the person they could always turn to for advice or guidance in any situation.
When Brian wasn’t working hard to provide for his family, he was present and intentional with the time he had with them. He was deeply involved in his children’s sports and never missed a game. Some of his fondest memories came from coaching, cheering from the sidelines, and watching his children pursue their passions.
Brian was dedicated to helping his children reach their full potential. Whether they were facing a school exam, a championship game, a career decision, or one of life’s bigger obstacles, he was always ready to help strategize, cheer them on, or offer one of his famous life lessons. He pushed them to be their best, always from a place of love and an unwavering belief in what they were capable of.
That same intentionality carried into the traditions he created for his family and, later, into his role as “G-Dawg.” He loved making holidays special and finding ways to create memories together. As a grandfather, he was playful, loving, and fully present—the kind of G-Dawg who would get down on the floor to play hide-and-seek and make time to form his own special bond with each of his grandchildren.
Brian loved the Lord and lived his faith through the way he loved, served, led, forgave, and cared for the people around him. His relationship with God was not simply something he spoke about; it was evident in the life he lived.
Brian and Brandi shared eight beautiful years together, building a life grounded in love, friendship, faith, laughter, and countless memories. After meeting in 2018, their connection was immediate, and they quickly became inseparable. Brian kept a detailed record of the memories they shared—a reflection of just how deeply he treasured their story. On February 22, 2023, they were married in McKinney, Texas. Together, they loved and served the Lord and believed it was their shared faith and God’s presence in their lives that blessed and strengthened their marriage. They also shared a special joy in being “G-Dawg” and “BB,” loving their grandchildren and making memories with them together. Through every season, they remained each other’s best friend, partner, and constant.
Brian treasured time with the people he loved. He enjoyed sports and staying active, especially on the golf course, but more than hobbies, accomplishments, or professional titles, Brian will be remembered for how he made people feel. He had a remarkable ability to bring calm when life felt uncertain, to protect without needing praise, to lead without overpowering, and to give of himself without expecting anything in return.
His absence leaves an immeasurable space in the lives of those who loved him, but the wisdom he shared, the people he mentored, the family he protected, the friendships he nurtured, the faith he lived, and the love he gave will continue to carry his legacy forward.
Brian is survived by his wife, Brandi Mock of Gunter, Texas; children and stepchildren, Trevor Mock and wife, Mary of Northlake, Texas; Nathan Mock and wife, Amanda of Northlake, Texas; Peyton Chambers and husband, Gavin of Richardson, Texas; Priscilla Anderton and husband, Andrew Grado of Temple, Texas; and Paitlyn Anderton of Kaufman, Texas; grandchildren, Cody Mock, Wyatt Mock, Harper Mock, and Kessler Chambers; mother, Barbara Mock of Keller, Texas; brothers, Gregory Dale Mock of Aurora, Colorado; Brett David Mock and wife, Ami of Burlington, North Carolina; and Kerry Dean Mock and wife, Kristin of Berkley Lake, Georgia; and a host of other loving family and friends.
