IN LOVING MEMORY

Brent Ernest Rustad

Mar 27 1955 - Apr 03 2022

Brent Ernest Rustad was born on Sunday, March 27, 1955 in Tempe, Arizona and passed to his rest April 3, 2022 at his home in Plano, Texas surrounded by family.  His parents were Elder George H. Rustad and Gayle Rustad who resided in Phoenix, Arizona.   Brent came home to his 2 older brothers Gary who was 10 years old and Roger who was 5 years old.  They were so excited to have a baby brother in the family.

Brent lived in Arizona till about the age of 5 when his father took an administrative position in Amarillo, Texas in 1960.  Brent loved Texas and always called Texas home.  Brent attended the Amarillo SDA school through the 10th grade and then attended Tascosa High School.  After high school he attended Southwestern Adventist University in Keene, Texas.

Some of Brent’s fondest memories was playing gospel music with the family and his 2 older brothers Gary and Roger.  His mother was a voice teacher and gave all the boys voice lessons. His father George would often play the mandolin or the violin and the family would often play music and sing gospel songs for hours at a time.  Brent became an accomplished guitar player and loved to play his guitar anytime he could. Brent always had an entrepreneurial spirit and he was also a licensed life insurance broker and always had an eye for a good deal.

Love follows people around the world in different ways.  Brent and Linda met nearly 20 years ago when the insurance company that they both worked for had staff training in Dallas.  Brent attended the training and there he met Linda and they fell in love.  When he met Linda, he loved her children like his own.  Everyone who knew Brent knew that he had a very quick and funny sense of humor, which he used all the time.

Brent was diagnosed with cancer about 3 years ago and he fought aggressively but lost his battle with cancer April 3, 2022 at the age of 67.  Brent had the goal of living to his birthday March 27th and he made it exactly one week past his birthday and he was born on a Sunday and died on a Sunday.

Brent is survived by his beloved fiancé, Erlinda Banegas; kids, Alberto Torres, Linda Torres, and Ash Rustad; grandkids, Jessica Littlejohn, Chase Rustad-Torres and Nola Torres; brother, Roger Rustad (Jewelretta), nephews, Gary Rustad, Roger Rustad, Jr., and Barrett Rustad; nieces, Cherise White, Tiffany Stratte, and Lauretta Rustad.

Brent awaits the call of the Lifegiver in Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. Following the service, a procession will make its way to Ridgeview Memorial Park for a committal service.
