Brenda Sims, aged 73, passed away on November 5, 2023, in McKinney, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Born on January 31, 1950, along with her twin, Linda, to Gerald and Geraldine (Winn) Hatchett in Killeen, Texas. Brenda’s life was one marked by warmth, dedication, and a vibrant spirit.
Growing up in Bellmead, Texas, Brenda’s journey began. She graduated from LaVega High School in 1968, where her passion for volleyball and majorette performances reflected her zest for life. On June 30, 1973, she united in marriage with the love of her life, Davis Lorraine Sims, in Waco, Texas. Their union became a foundation of unwavering love and support.
Brenda devoted 25+ years of her professional life to the Harris County Criminal Courthouse. During those years, she was blessed to stay home with the birth of their son Shawn Davis until he started school. After returning to work, Brenda thrived as a court coordinator, serving under the guidance of Criminal Judge Musselwhite and Judge Joan Huffman. Her retirement as a Senior Court Coordinator marked the culmination of a successful and dedicated career.
While Brenda found immense joy in spending time with family and friends, her love for card games and cooking for her family was something she enjoyed. In her later years, she found delight in trips to the casino with her sisters, son, and childhood friends, cherishing these moments.
Brenda leaves behind a loving legacy, survived by her devoted husband, Davis Sims, and their beloved son, Shawn Sims. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Jená Hatchett; her sister, Deborah Hatchett; her twin sister and brother-in-law, Linda and John Hale and along with her nieces and nephews, Saxon Hatchett, Bentley Hatchett, Wendy Morris, Kevin Thornal, Amber Hearnsberger, Chafin
Hale, Don DeBerry, Jr., Sherrie Rogers, Davis DeBerry, Lajuana LaTouche, and Loretta Wylie. Bailey Brenda Hearnsberger is her namesake, daughter of Darren and Amber Hearnsberger and a host of other loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
