Brayden James “BJ” Ailey passed away peacefully at home in the arms of his mother and father on Friday, March 17, 2023, at the age of 9.
BJ is survived by his parents, Stefanie (DiBacco) and Steven Ailey of Frisco; his brother, Dylan Ailey and his wife, Alice, of the United Kingdom; his sister, Kyra Ailey of Frisco; his grandparents, Steve DiBacco of Huber Heights, Ohio, Connie DiBacco of Dallas, Texas, and Earl & Carolyn Ailey of Cushing, Oklahoma; and his great-grandfather, Anthony DiBacco of Thomas, West Virginia.
BJ was born on December 28, 2013, in Dallas, Texas. The Ailey family was blessed to receive BJ in their home on March 14, 2014. Stefanie and Steven adopted BJ on June 28, 2017. BJ loved to spend time on the beach where he received comfort from the humid sea air and warm sun. When not on the beach, BJ enjoyed hanging out with his two buddies, Dini and Luka, watching song filled cartoons, swinging on “BJ’s swing” at the neighborhood park and being embraced by his family and cast of nurses, therapists and teachers. His sweet demeanor and strong spirit will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.
The family wants to thank BJ’s nursing and therapy team: Lillie, Karla, Glory, Jane, Isaac, Eva, Lisa, Bray, Jonathan, Ashley, Yvette, Norma, Renee, Trisha, Camille, Elaine, Elizabeth, and Eryn. In addition, the family would like to thank all of the doctors and hospital staff that cared for BJ, along with the Prosper ISD.
The family invites you to a visitation at Berkshire Chapel, 9073 Berkshire Drive, Frisco, Texas, on March 24, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. The memorial service will be held at Legacy Church Plano, 5333 Independence Pkwy., Plano, Texas, on March 25, 2023, at 2:00 pm, with a reception to follow.
