Reverend Boyd Arthur Stiles of Plano, Texas was escorted by the Angels to his heavenly home on September 10, 2018 at the age of 78. He was born October 29, 1939 to Benjamin Franklin Stiles and Mary Ida (Jussell) Stiles in Muskogee, Oklahoma, long before it was popular to be an “Okie from Muskogee”. Boyd was a 1957 graduate of Muskogee Central High School where he was on the Track Team, tying a world record in 1956. He attended Connors State College and Northeastern State University. Boyd married his high school sweetheart Myrlita Jean Franklin on August 16, 1958 in Muskogee, Oklahoma and on August 16, 2018 celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary.
He served as Youth Pastor at Bethel Temple Church in Muskogee and treasured the friendships that developed over the years. Boyd enjoyed singing with the Gospel Lamplighters as they ministered in song at the local churches and northeast area of Oklahoma.
In 1962, he became an ordained minister serving the IPHC as pastor of several churches in Oklahoma and one in Missouri. In 1992, Boyd retired from pastoral duties and moved to Plano, Texas to assume outside sales responsibilities for Oklahoma Rig and Supply. Sales provided him much pleasure from making many friends throughout Texas. Every call was an opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life. Toward the end of his career in sales, he worked for Roughneck Supply and retired again in 2010.
Boyd is survived by his beloved wife, Myrlita Stiles of Plano, Texas; daughter, Rebekah Stiles of Plano, Texas; son, Samuel Stiles of Dallas, Texas; brothers, Cecil Stiles of Springfield, Illinois and Doyle Stiles of Muskogee, Oklahoma; sisters, Ruby Rakes of Taylor, Texas and Shirley Ediger of Hydro, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Clifton Luther of Monroe, Louisiana and Katharin Lindsey of Monroe, Louisiana and three great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Ida Stiles
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September, 15, 2018 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. Interment is to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas.
