IN LOVING MEMORY

Bobby Virgil Chapman

Jan 24 1934 - Nov 02 2025

Bobby Virgil Chapman, 91, of Tom Bean, Texas, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by his loving family.

Born January 24, 1934, in Santa Fe, Oklahoma, Bob lived a life full of faith, hard work, and deep devotion to those he loved. A proud veteran, he faithfully served his country for three years, stationed in Italy, New York, and Fort Chaffee, Arkansas. Bob dedicated his life to his family and his work, finding joy and fulfillment in building homes, plumbing, and working alongside his two sons, Brent and Brian.

Those who knew Bob witnessed a man who never sought recognition, yet always deserved it. He was a hard worker; steadfast, dependable, and never one to shy away from the task at hand. He didn’t wait to be asked; he simply showed up. Generosity was not a moment for Bob, it was his way of life. He found far more comfort in giving than in receiving, and his quiet acts of kindness touched countless lives.

Bob was a man of steadfast faith who rarely missed a Sunday in church with his beloved wife, Joyce Chapman. He cherished the simple joys in life—listening to hymns and Randy Travis, spending time fishing and camping, and gathering with family often for laughter and stories. His proudest accomplishment was always his family, who brought him immeasurable joy and pride throughout his life. Bob and Joyce celebrated 69 years together in June, among their proudest accomplishments was the family they created together; their 4 “Great” children, 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Bob is survived by his devoted wife, Joyce Chapman, and their four children:

  • Bobbi Taylor and husband Ken, and their children Angie Hackett and husband Doug, (and their children Trent and Andy) and Brad Taylor and Wife Alecia (and their children Alaurie, Brayden, and Oliver).
  • Lisa Chapman and Truman Carpenter, and her children Megan Burleson (and her children William and Thomas), Hanah Parrish (and her children Jaxon Milam, Skylar Milam, Tatum Vanhook), Kelsi Kempf and husband Jesse (with their daughter Emma Kempf), Josh Parrish and wife Haleen (and their children Melody and Danny), Keton Parrish and wife Lauren (and their children Owen and Landry), and Luke Parrish and wife Reagan.
  • Brent Chapman and wife Marci, and their children Maci Liss and husband Tyler (and children Maverick and Beau), and Samantha Chapman.
  • Brian Chapman and wife Michelle, and their children Landon Chapman and wife Taylor, Hayden Phelps and wife Sierra, and Chesney Chapman.

Bob’s life was a testament to love, faith, and dedication. He leaves behind a legacy that will live on through his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

“There are some who bring a light so great to the world that even after they have gone the light remains.”

Bob’s light will forever shine in the hearts of those who loved him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Samaritan’s Purse in Bob’s memory. He greatly admired Franklin Graham and the good work he continues to do in helping others through faith and service.

"The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord; and he delighteth in his way." Psalms 37:23
