Bobby Glen Spurgin, 50, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, gently passed on Wednesday, February 10th 2010 at his home in Rockwall, Texas after a courageous battle with cancer. His strength inspired his family and friends. He is remembered for his infectious smile and laughter, his warm heart and genuineness. Bobby was born January 8, 1960 in Celina, TX to Garnett Lee and Artie Pearl Spurgin and grew up in McKinney, Texas where he graduated high school and for the last sixteen years worked in auto sales for North Central Ford and Sam Pack's Five Star Ford. He loved going to the beach with Barb, to dance and especially to ride his Harley alongside her and with his very dear friends. He was an avid reader and loved crossword puzzles. He was a caring and devoted husband to his wife, Barb, an incredible father to his son, Chris and a fun loving grandfather ("POPS") to his gran-girls, Ryane and Regan Spurgin. Bobby was preceded in death by his loving parents and his beautiful, yellow labrador retriever, Lucy of 12 years.
He is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 30 years, Barbara Spurgin of Rockwall, TX, his son Christopher Glen Spurgin, daughter-in-law, Gail (Abbey) Spurgin, and granddaughters, Ryane and Regan Spurgin of Wylie, TX. His brother's Jackie Spurgin and wife Margaret of McKinney, TX, Gary Spurgin and wife Donna, of Corinth, TX, Michael Spurgin and wife Janice of McKinney, TX. His sister's Betty Sue Cordes and husband William ("Bill") of Leonard, TX Joyce Stevens and husband Bill of Gordonville, TX. His mother-in-law Doris Wolfe, sister-in-law's Lesia Blassingame and Glenda Wolfe. Brother-in-laws, Melvin Wolfe, Jimmy Wolfe, Bruce Wolfe, Ronnie Wolfe and his wife Barbara, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 15, 2010, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with MacArthur Doty and Allen Pate officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for a visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
