Bobby Ray (Bob) Peeples of Allen, Texas, sadly passed away on October 8, 2024, at the age of 87. Bob was born in Ft. Worth, Texas, on February 28, 1937, to loving parents Raymond and Irene Peeples. The family later moved to Lubbock, Texas where he finished High school.
Bob is preceded in death by his father, Raymond Peeples, his mother, Irene Peeples, and his son, Mark Peeples.
Bob's love of music and fascination with radio allowed Bob to work with a high school friend named Buddy Holly. Bob recorded the infamous garage tapes. A few weeks later, he went along with Buddy, Niki, and Larry Welborn to Norman Petty Studios in Clovis, New Mexico. He referred to that as the day the music started. He found his passion then. Bob had a few different jobs from the late '50s to the early '80s, including working at South Plains Electric Company in Lubbock, as well as at a phone company. He also worked at PAMs Studios and Good Night Audio Dallas as a recording engineer, where he met and worked with many local and various famous singers/songwriters in the recording industry. (Ask the family, and we will spill.) He also worked at Century21 Studios, dealing with automated radio and recordings for radio stations.
In 1973, while living at the Dallas Village, Bob met Vicki Hildebrandt, and they began a serious relationship. They decided to buy a townhome together and to do so, they had to be married. The marriage took place on February 27, 1974, the day before Bob's birthday. Together with 3 children (1 from her and 2 from his previous marriages), they created a blended family.
In 1982, Bob went into business for himself and started Pro Audio Video Systems, his own company that specialized in Audio Video Sales and Installation. The business started with extra-large Satellite Dishes in the early '80s and expanded to communications systems for large chains, as well as TVs and sound systems for several restaurants and sports bars. He loved being his boss so much that he stayed in business for 41 years and had just retired at 85.
Bob had a passion for cars. As a teen, he worked extra hours to buy a new '56 Corvette. He held that passion and had exactly what he wanted to drive when possible. If had had the first of its kind, the happier he was. He taught Vicki and the boys how to ride motorcycles. Bob and Vicki met hot air balloon pilot Randy Wright in Plano at Collin Creek Mall and became part of the Balloon Chase Crew, which led to many exciting weekend ballooning. Crewing at the Plano and Albuquerque balloon festivals were highlights of his balloon days.
Bob loved to travel, There were countless car trips in cars too small for the 5 of us but it was a vacation, some to snow ski and others to see beaches and desserts. In the later years, he and Vicki traveled almost annually to various European countries, the last 3 years sharing the journey with their boys.
Bob was a family man extraordinaire. He did want his way most of the time, but at the center of it all was the GIANT love he had for his wife Vicki and his kids, including the four-legged or the ones with beaks and wings.
Bob is Survived by his wife of 50 years, Vicki Peeples, son Greg Cumbie, son Matthew Peeples, and his partner Dale Boehne.
