Bobby Neal Russell, Jr. of Plano, Texas departed from this world on January 21, 2022 at 59 years young. He was born on September 6, 1962 to Bobby Neal Russell, Sr. and Doris Jane Johnson in Fort Worth, Texas. Bobby grew up in Springtown, Texas where he attended Springtown High School. In addition to owning his own residential/commercial remodeling company, Bobby spent much of his career as a foreman in building maintenance. In 1986, he met the love of his life, Sandy. They were each other’s world and from that moment on, they were inseparable. Together they started a family in 1991 with the birth of their son, Steven Neal Russell and later their daughter, Rachel Russell. He would always tell his kids, when dropping them off at school (and for years later), “Smiles are free, give em’ away”. He was a proud and devoted family man.
Bobby and Sandy especially enjoyed their time on the patio whether they were sipping hot cups of coffee in the morning air or winding down the evening with cocktails while listening to music. There are endless cherished memories of family trips, including camping, visiting the coasts or mountains and fishing anytime he got the chance. His signature red truck was always equipped for adventure; he was always ready to jump in and head out. The outdoors, doing anything really, was his happy place. There were few things he enjoyed more than having breakfast with his son before a day of aimlessly (and sometimes purposefully) driving around or hanging out with his daughter and their many dogs by a fire. Bobby loved sports and was a longtime fan of the Texas Longhorns, Dallas Mavericks and Texas Rangers. Most Sundays were dedicated to watching and often being let down by the Dallas Cowboys. Some of his favorite memories were made at Texas Motor Speedway with his dad and brothers. Above all, no matter the occasion, Bobby loved the time he spent with his family and friends. If you knew him, you know he was incredibly giving. Bobby loved helping others with no expectation of anything in return. You have probably heard the saying “he never met a stranger”, that was Bobby.
However, if you really knew Bobby, you would also know he would hate us saying all of this and would make a joke to lighten the mood and redirect the attention. In fact, I’m sure many of you are thinking of something he would say right now.
So, we’re going to tell you what he would say right about now: pour a cold one and enjoy the good times.
Those left behind to carry on his memory are his wife, Sandy Russell; son, Steven Russell; daughter, Rachel Swoger and Nick (or Nickel), all of Plano, Texas; daughter, Jacklyn Secrest; daughter, Jennifer Prince and husband, Earnest; son, Buddy Secrest, all of Sanger, Texas; granddaughters, Kimberly and Faith; grandsons, Josh and Earnest among other grandchildren and great-grandchildren ; sister, Cory Brooks and husband, Andy; brother, John Russell and wife, Denise; sister, Cynthia Hickman and husband, Shane; brother, Johnny Russell; brother, Ronnie Russell; sister, Donna Campbell; and a host of other loving family members and friends.
