Bobby Jim "Bob" Mullinix

Bobby Jim Mullinix, age 79, of McKinney, Texas, went to be with the Lord on June 4, 2009, in Bonham, Texas. Mr. Mullinix was born February 11, 1930, in Leonard, Texas, to Sam and Cecil Faye Owens Mullinix. He married Veda Lynn Davis on July 19, 1974, in Durham, North Carolina. Mr. Mullinix joined the United States Air Force on January 6, 1951. He served in England and while serving in the Air Force earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Mullinix was Honorably Discharged on January 5, 1955. Bob worked at Perrin Air Force Base for many years and worked for the Veterans Administration as Chief of Building Maintenance Services. During his time with the Veterans Administration, Bob worked in Bonham, Texas, Durham, North Carolina, Kerrville, Texas, Dallas, Texas, and Grand Junction, Colorado. Mr. Mullinix was a member of the Masonic Lodge in McKinney, Texas. Bob was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in McKinney and was currently a member of First Baptist Church in Melissa, Texas. Mr. Mullinix is survived by his wife of 35 years Veda Lynn Mullinix, of McKinney, Texas; two sons: Don Ballard, of Austin, Texas and Dennis Mullinix of Dallas, Texas; two daughters: Sharon Ballard, of Falls Church, Virginia and Deborah Rodriguez, of Sherman, Texas; several Grandchildren; three sisters-in-law: Pearl Caudell, of McKinney, Texas, Oretta Tippey and her husband Donald, of Lewistown, Illinois, and Orlena Rigsby, of Plano, Texas; many cousins, and a host of other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 7, 2009, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Charles Morris and Chaplain Gene Owen, officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Stoney Point Cemetery, in Melissa, Texas. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Saturday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday.
