Bobby Douglas Maddox

Bobby Douglas Maddox of Garland, Texas passed away May 30, 2022 at the age of 68 after a courageous battle of liver cancer and liver disease.  He was born on January 16, 1954 to Floyd Douglas Maddox and Reda (Ragan) Maddox in Sulphur Springs, Texas.  Bobby married Susan Marie Richard on August 27, 1977 in Euless, Texas.  Bobby was a Christian and of the Baptist faith.

Bobby received two college degrees.  He received his Associate Degree in Digital Electronics from Eastfield College and his BS in Industrial Engineering degree from Texas A&M (formally East Texas University).His professional career began at Collins Radio/Rockwell International as a test technician and retiring from Raytheon as program manager on a major government contract, on May 19, 2017.  He was a loving husband, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.  Bobby will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 45 years, Susan Marie Maddox of Garland, Texas; brother, Steven Dale Maddox of McKinney, Texas; sister-in-law, Elaine High and husband, John of St. Charles, Missouri; brother-in-law, Leroy Joseph Richard, Jr. and wife, Shari of Denver, Colorado; granddaughter, Addison Reeves of Plano, Texas; grandson, James Reeves of Plano, Texas; niece, Allison Clemons and husband, Greg of St. Charles, Missouri;  nephew Jason Richard, goddaughter, Heatha Arceneaux of Lafayette, Louisiana; and a host of other loving family and friends.

Bobby enjoyed numerous hobbies, including archery, golf, classic cars, guitars, and hosting poker parties.  His accomplishments include holding several state and national archery titles, ranking 3rd in the nation, and being asked to try out for the USA Archery Team.  He was proud to represent Rockwell International at several Byron Nelson Golf Classics.  His pride and joy was his 1967 Camaro and 2004 SSR.  He learned how to play guitar, which includes a collection of over 50 guitars.  He thoroughly enjoyed being with friends and families and hosting Friday night poker parties.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Reda Maddox; grandparents, Q.B. and Leona Maddox & Walter and Lou Ragan.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. The service will also be live streamed at TJMfuneral.com on Bobby’s obituary page by clicking on the following link: https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/bobby-douglas-maddox.  After the service, the recorded live stream will be available for viewing at the same link location.  Following the service, a committal service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Arbala Cemetery, Arbala Community, Texas, FM 1567, Yantis, Texas 75497.

The family will receive family and friends during a visitation on Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
