William Robert “Bob” Black, age 90, of Little Elm, Texas, passed away August 4, 2010, in Little Elm. Bob was born December 15, 1919, in Collin County, Texas, to John and Lora (Davidson) Black. He married Marilyn Pierce on April 9, 2006, in Denton, Texas. Bob grew up in Collin County and graduated from Prosper High School. He was a farmer and enjoyed fishing. Bob proudly served in the United States Army. He served in New Guinea, Southern Philippines, and Northern Philippines during World War II. Bob received the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, Purple Heart, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and Two Bronze Stars and was honorably discharged on April 17, 1946. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Black of Little Elm, Texas; sons, Mike Black and Mark Black, both of Collin County, Texas, James L. Williams of Plano, Texas, and T. P. Williams of Hillsboro, Texas; daughters, Jackie Day and husband, Lonnie of Garland, Texas and Ann Smith and husband, Lindsay of Rice, Texas; thirteen grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Imogene Black, brother, Damon S. Black, and a son, Gerald Pat Black. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 6, 2010, at Williams Cemetery in McKinney, Texas with Jim Jake Templin officiating. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Thursday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends during a visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m., Thursday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
