Billy Charles Simpson of McKinney, Texas passed away on March 23, 2021 at the age of 82. He was born on February 22, 1939 to Benjamin Franklin Simpson and Allyne (Jobe) Simpson in Olney, Texas. Billy proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He married Wanda Howard on August 8, 1959 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Billy and Wanda lived in Lubbock from the date of their marriage until 1992, when they relocated to Collin County. While living in Lubbock, Bill owned and operated a barbershop. He had a true passion for Harleys, Corvettes, and the outdoors. Bill owned many Corvettes throughout his life, and it suited him; driving fast with the top down every chance he got! He and Wanda traveled much of Texas and the Western United States atop a Harley, camping along the way. Bill loved to fish, although he rarely ate one. Though he did not start playing until he was in his late 30’s, Bill also had a passion for the game of golf. He could really drive the ball! He always said that if he could perfect his short game, he could be so much better. He must have done something right because he won a lot of tournaments at his favorite course, Pecan Hollow. To Billy, his greatest achievement was his children. He was so proud of the fine adults they became. He considered his three grandsons a special gift. Billy was of Baptist faith.
Billy is survived by his wife, Wanda Simpson of McKinney, Texas; son, Guy Simpson and wife, Dena of McKinney, Texas; daughter, Traci Griswold of Dallas, Texas; grandsons, Park Griswold of Dallas, Texas, Wilson Griswold of Dallas, Texas and Jeremy Simpson of McKinney, Texas; and a host of other loving family and friends.
