Billy Glenn Stroup

Billy Glenn Stroup, a longtime resident of Blue Ridge, Texas passed away April 5, 2022 at the age of 91.  He was born on March 16, 1931 to John Warren Stroup and Valrie (Kemp) Stroup in Blue Ridge.  Billy served his country proudly in the United States Army.  He married the late Bonnie Bea (Hammett) Stroup on August 25, 1956 in Clayton, New Mexico.  Billy had a lengthy career with Texas Instruments and Linx Data Terminals as a Drafting Designer.  He was a devoted member of Verona Baptist Church in Blue Ridge.  Billy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.  He will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved him.

Billy is survived by his son, Douglas Scott Stroup and wife, Brieta of Greenville, Texas; daughter, Terry Lynn Hazuda and husband, Mike of Plano, Texas; granddaughters, Megan Smith and husband, Brandon of McKinney, Texas, Lindsay Stroup of Sherman, Texas, Holly Stroup and  Heather Stroup, both of Blue Ridge, Texas; grandson, Rob Mathews and wife, Amber of Oak Harbor, Washington; great-grandsons, Rylen Mathews of Oak Harbor, Washington and Luke Smith of McKinney, Texas; great-granddaughters, Audrey Mathews of Oak Harbor, Washington, Lily Goligowski of Sherman, Texas, and Bonnie Dodson of Blue Ridge, Texas; sister, Betty Ann (Stroup) Vamvakas of Snow Hill, Texas; sister-in-law, Voncil Stroup of Blue Ridge, Texas; several nieces and nephews, and a host of other loving family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bonnie Stroup; daughters, Gwenlyn Valrie Stroup and Kelly Ann Stroup; parents, John and Valrie Stroup; sister, Mary Francis (Stroup) Medaris; and brothers, Virgil Stroup, Sgt. Gene E. Stroup, Cpl. John L. Stroup, James D. Stroup, Vernon H. Stroup, and Herman Stroup.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Turrentine-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. The service will also be live streamed at TJMfuneral.com on Billy’s obituary page by clicking on the following link:  https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/billy-glenn-stroup.  After the service, the recorded live stream will be available for viewing at the same link location.  Following the service, a procession will make its way to Pecan Grove Cemetery in McKinney, Texas for a committal service with Military Honors.
