A Funeral Service for Mr. Billy Gene Golden, 95 year old Bailey resident, is scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Wednesday October 17, 2018 at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel at Leonard. Wyndell Presley and Charles Wrenn will officiate. Burial will be in the Grove Hill Cemetery near Leonard. Family visitation will be Wednesday October 17, 2018 from 10:00 A.M. until service time at 11:00 A.M.

Billy was born July 25, 1923 near Trenton. His parents were Arnie Gibbs and Ila Viola Ready Golden. He worked as a Mechanical Engineer and was a member of the Bailey Church of Christ. Billy graduated from East Texas State Teachers College with a BS Degree in Math. He also attended the Franklin Technical Institute while he was serving in the United States Army. He was the author of two publications: Industrial Silencing Handbook (1982) and Silencer Application Handbook (1993). He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Acoustical Society of America and the American Legion. While serving his country in WWII in the Army he achieved the ranks of Tec 3 during active duty and Second Lieutenant in the Army Reserve. He received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with three bronze stars (China Offensive, Central Burma and India Burma). He also received the EAME Campaign Medal and a Certificate of Recognition from the Secretary of Defense. He passed away Saturday October 13, 2018 at the Texoma Medical Center of Bonham.

Billy married Rebecca Louise Golden January 20, 1946 and they were married 55 years before she passed away. In the 1970’s, they moved from Lewisville to the country in Bailey where Billy enjoyed raising cows and spending time working outdoors. His wife, daughter and granddaughter were the most important things to him. He was later blessed to marry Mary D. Golden on March 20, 2004. She also preceded Billy in death.

Billy is survived by his daughter, Sandra Sims of Bailey and his granddaughter and her husband, Amy and Ronnie Land of Farmers Branch.

In addition to his parents and his two wives, Billy was preceded in death by a brother, James Donald Golden.
