Billy E. McEuen, a lifelong residence of Collin County, Texas passed away on February 14, 2023 at the age of 89. He was born on May 28, 1933 to Elmer Lee McEuen and Mattie Mae (Flanagan) McEuen in McKinney, Texas and he grew up in the McKinney and Melissa areas. Bill met the love of his life, the late Mae Elizabeth Cannon in 1950 and they married on September 8, 1951 in McKinney. He and Mae enjoyed 66 years of marriage before her passing in 2017. They made their first home in McKinney where they welcomed three children, Peggy, Jimmy and Billy Don. After a few years, the family relocated to Allen, Texas. Bill held several jobs throughout his early years but eventually started a career as a Heavy Machine Operator for the City of Richardson. He retired after 25years of service to the city. Some years after he and Mae were retired, they moved to Murphy, Texas.
Bill enjoyed being outdoors especially fishing, hunting and camping. Mae accompanied him on many trips. They loved traveling together or with family and friends. One of their favorite trips was visiting Alaska. Bill also liked playing dominoes and 42 with friends and family. He had a love for Garage Sales and Trade Days. Bill would hunt for bargains to sell. He then would take his finds to his shop for a little “fine tuning” or “touch up”. Finally, he would carry restored finds back to Trade Days for reselling. Bill loved tinkering in his shop. It didn’t matter what he was working on; lawnmowers, weed eaters, boat motors, etc. Give Bill a can of WD40 and spray paint and he was a happy man. In addition to giving items a new life, Bill collected things such as guns, knives, clocks, dolls, antiques, and anything that interested him.
Bill lived an exceedingly good life, a full life doing everything he liked to do. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Bill will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his sons, Billy Don McEuen and wife, Karen and Jimmy McEuen and wife, Phyllis; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving family and friends.
Billy was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mae McEuen; daughter, parents, brother, and one great-granddaughter.
