IN LOVING MEMORY

Beverly Covington

Mar 30 1941 - Nov 21 2021

Beverly Covington of McKinney, Texas passed away November 21, 2021 at the age of 80.   She was born on March 30, 1941 to Samuel Martin Davidson and Bernice Elizabeth (Ross) Davidson in McKinney.  Beverly was a graduate of McKinney Boyd High School.  She met her beloved husband, Howard Joe Covington in 1957 after his service in the United States Navy.  Beverly married Joe in 1959 at The North Baptist Church of McKinney and they have enjoyed 62 years of marriage together.  In 1965, they started a family with the birth of their son, Josh and added to their joy with the birth of their daughter, Joanna in 1969.  Beverly worked for State Farm for many years, then she continued her career with Fisher Controls to be closer to home.  After working for Fisher Controls, Beverly changed careers to work for the City of Lucas before changing to the City of McKinney.  She retired from the City of McKinney as the Deputy City Secretary after many dedicated years of work.  All throughout her life, Beverly enjoyed traveling.  She visited London, Germany, and most of the 50 states. Beverly most enjoyed her trips to visit family especially her family in Tennessee.  She also adored traveling to different lakes in the family camper.  When Beverly was not traveling with her family, she designated her Saturdays for shopping and she was a proficient shopper.  Beverly truly loved doting on her children and later her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extending to great- nieces and nephews as well.   She was a member of Chambersville United Methodist Church and she will always be remembered by her church family.  Beverly had a servant’s heart.   She was the first to volunteer to help when help was needed.  Beverly’s lunch bunch, the 80’s Ladies, will miss their founder dearly also.  Together, they had quite a few rowdy lunches and were enjoyed by all in their presence.

She is survived by her husband, Howard Joe Covington; son, Josh Covington; daughter, Joanna Higginbotham and husband, Danny; granddaughters, MacKenzie and Hannah Higginbotham, all of McKinney, Texas; sister, Kay Morgan and husband, John of College Station, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving family and friends.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Ron Davidson.
