Bettye Edwards Arnold of Allen, Texas passed away on May 7, 2022 at the age of 91. She was born in Ferris, Texas to Robbie Harvey and Nannie Pauline Finley Edwards on September 28, 1930. She was a graduate of Ferris High School and attended North Texas State in Denton, Texas. Bettye and John A. Arnold, Jr. were married on March 23, 1951.

She is survived by her two sons, John Arnold III and wife, Mary Ann of Rockwall, Texas and Jim Arnold and wife, Debbie of Allen, Texas; five grandchildren, Josh Arnold and wife, Kim of Allen, Texas, Jeff Arnold and wife, Michelle of Dallas, Texas, Caroline Munson and husband, Michael of Dallas, Texas, Jake Arnold and wife, Cassie of Denton, Texas and James Arnold and wife, Taylor of Plano, Texas; eleven great-grandchildren, Jaxon Arnold of Allen, Texas, Kaylie Arnold of Allen, Texas, Jase Arnold of Allen, Texas, Finley Arnold of Denton, Texas, Hattie Arnold of Dallas, Texas, Louisa Arnold of Denton, Texas, Lucy Arnold of Dallas, Texas, Ann Rose Munson of Dallas, Texas, Eleanor Arnold of Denton, Texas, Cella Munson of Dallas, Texas and Ivy Lyn Arnold of Plano, Texas; one niece, Connie Edwards Bratcher of Ferris, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1986; her parents; her brother, R.H. Edwards, Jr., and an infant son.

Bettye’s life was devoted to her family, church, friends and helping others. She taught children’s Sunday School, was a Den Mother, carried the church altar flowers to the elderly for 35 years and delivered Meals on Wheels for many years. Bettye was a member of the Ferris and Allen First United Methodist Churches since early childhood. She was an active member of the United Methodist Women and enjoyed being a member of the Tuesday Book Club in Plano, Texas for over 30 years.

The family is grateful to Akua Baah for her many years of loving care in Bettye’s home, along with all the other care givers over the last 9 years of her life.

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, May 13, 2022 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. After the service, the recorded live stream will be available for viewing at the same link location. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas.

The family will receive friends during a visitation on Thursday, May 12, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
