Bettye Schultz Smith

Mrs. Bettye Schultz Smith, age 75, of Branch, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 22, 2007. She was born April 25, 1932, in Clear Lake, Texas to John William (Bill) and Minnie Isabell Schultz. On June 9, 1950 she married Ruben Jerry Smith in Rowlett, Texas. Bettye was a member of Community North Baptist Church and former member of King Memorial Baptist Church. Bettye, also known as “Ma Ma” to her grandchildren, had a loving spirit and servant’s heart. She was a very strong woman and never gave up during her seven year illness. Her devotion to her husband, children, family and friends will always be remembered. Bettye worked many years as the church secretary of King Memorial Baptist Church and served others tirelessly. She enjoyed family vacations, gardening, cooking and serving the Body of Christ. Bettye enjoyed life to the fullest and leaves us now with her legacy of love forever stamped on the hearts of all she touched. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jerry; daughter, Sharon Loftice and husband, Fred of Van Alstyne, Texas; sons, Darryl Smith and wife Amy, Jerry W. Smith and wife, April all of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Brandon Duncan and wife Jenna, Chad Duncan and wife Rebecca, Lindsey Clifton and husband James, Taylor Smith, Jerry W. Smith, Jr., Monica Grimes, Ryan Smith, Christopher Smith, Jeffrey Smith and Catherine Smith; great-grandchildren, Katie Beth Grimes and Bryleigh Makenna Duncan; sisters, Allyne Harvell of Lake Jackson, Texas, Shirley Akin and husband Tommy and Patsy Foster and husband Mickey; brother, Ted Schultz and wife Alice; sister-in-law Geneva Schultz all of Wylie, Texas; brother-in-law Coy Deets of Sachse, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.. Bettye was preceded in death by her parents, mother-in-law Viola Mae (Ode) Cornuaud and husband Victor; sister Frances Deets; brother, Billy Schultz; brother-in-law Jack Harvell, one niece and two nephews. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Monday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive guests during a visitation, November 26, 2007 from 6:00-8:00 PM Monday evening. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in McKinney, Texas with Reverend Don Bourland officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. Family and friends are invited to a reception immediately following the graveside service at a location to be announced. Memorials may be made to the Community North Baptist Church building fund.
