First Lady Betty Joyce Jones Thomas

First Lady Betty Joyce (Jones) Thomas of Plano, Texas passed away July 11, 2020, at the young age of 73.  She was born on January 30, 1947, to the parentage of Herbert Jones and Johnnie Lee (Sweat) Jones in Allen, TX. Betty married longtime friend and classmate, Ebbie Thomas, Jr. on August 26, 1967. She was a loving homemaker to her family and domestic caretaker to several other families throughout her life. Betty gave her life to Christ in 1976 and transformed into the beautiful person everyone knew and loved. In 1985, Betty and Pastor Ebbie Thomas cofounded their church, A House of Deliverance For All People, where she served faithfully for 35 years.

Betty had an outgoing personality and was known as the Aunt who hosted holiday parties and brought the family together. She touched many lives with her generosity and passion for serving others. As a result of her plentiful spirit, Betty was loved by many and her Christian life was as beautiful as the flowers that she loved so well. Betty enjoyed traveling, hosting and attending parties, and spending time with her great-grandchildren. Her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her and she will be remembered for her vibrant smile, impeccable fashion sense, and a heart for the Lord! Throughout her life she maintained a sweet demeanor and won the trust and hearts of many. Betty’s bright smile and laughter will never be forgotten. We will always carry her memory in our hearts.

Betty is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 53 years, Ebbie Thomas, Jr; daughter; Deborah Kay Davis of McKinney, TX  grandchildren; Kacia Thompson (John) of Aubrey, Texas, and Kavon Davis of Dallas, Texas, great-grandchildren; Kacilin and Kallan Thompson, both of Aubrey, Texas; 5 brothers, Herbert Jones, John Jones, Billy Jones, Paul Jones  Zenford Jones. 5 sisters, Beulah Hickson, Jewel Chappell, Carolyn Johnson Linda Jones, Mary Reddick and a host of other loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Johnnie Jones; brothers; Willie Jones and George Jones; sisters, Thelma Hall and Annie B. Allen.

In support of our local, state, and federal govt including CDC directives and to protect the physical health, safety and well-being of our community, only a limited number of guests will be allowed to attend the Funeral Service.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 17, 2020, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas, and will also be live-streamed on the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Facebook page and a recorded video will be available following the funeral service on Betty’s obituary page.

However, when the maximum number of guests are reached, those who would like to honor Betty and show their support to his/her family may remain at the funeral home in your vehicle, where you can watch the live streamed service on your personal device (laptop, tablet or smartphone) or listen through a designated FM radio channel.

A “come and go” visitation will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home. Only a limited number of guests will be allowed to enter the funeral home facility at any one time to maintain social distancing.
