Betty Jean Simmons of Plano, Texas passed away on August 14, 2020 at the age of 87. She was born on May 26, 1933 to Hiram Clay and Euna B. (Chipmon) Stallings in Blytheville, Arkansas. Betty married William Robert Simmons on February 1, 1952 in Lepanto, Arkansas. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Plano. Betty had a successful career in banking for over 20 years. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her friends and family.
She is survived by her children, Bobby Simmons and wife, Kathy of Sachse, Texas, Terry Spears and husband, Jerry of Sachse, Texas, and Tammy Simmons of Sachse, Texas; grandchildren, Michael Simmons of Denton, Texas, Clay Simmons and fiancé, Ashley of Wolfe City, Texas, Shane Spears and fiancé, Mandie of Flower Mound, Texas, and Taylor Shepherd and husband, Tant of Lantana, Texas; great grandchildren, Jordan, Jared, Justin, Cody, Ariana, Carson, Tatum, Noah, and expecting Colter in February; sisters, Mary Flaherty of Vancouver, Washington, Louetta Conley of Blytheville, Arkansas, and Carolyn Smallwood of Blytheville, Arkansas; brother, Jerry Stallings of Ridgefield, Washington and numerous other loving family and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, William Robert Simmons; parents, Clay and Euna Stallings; and brother, Doug Stallings.
In support of our local, state, and federal govt including CDC directives and to protect the physical health, safety and well-being of our community, only a limited number of guests will be allowed to attend the Funeral Service.
A private funeral service for family will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas, and will also be live streamed on the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Facebook page and a recorded video will be available following the funeral service on Betty’s obituary page.
However, when the maximum number of guests are reached, those who would like to honor Betty and show their support to her family may remain at the funeral home in your vehicle where you can watch the live streamed service on your personal device (laptop, tablet or smartphone) or listen through a designated FM radio channel.
Following the funeral service, a procession will make its way to Ridgeview Memorial Park for a committal service where all are invited to attend the committal service maintaining social distancing or you may remain in your vehicle. You will be able to listen to the service through speakers set up at the gravesite.
