Betty Richardson Montgomery, age 79, of Columbus, Mississippi, passed away June 9, 2019, at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Montgomery was born April 13, 1940, in Columbus, Mississippi, to the late Lelon Gary and Lottie (Jones) Richardson, Sr. She was married to the late Jimmy Roy Montgomery and they lived in San Diego, California, during his military career. They also lived in Dallas, Texas, and Columbus, Mississippi. Mrs. Montgomery was a member of the former Murrah’s Chapel Methodist Church.
She is survived by her son, James Stanley Montgomery of Columbus, Mississippi; daughters, Dee Harmond and husband, Mike of Allen, Texas and Carolyn Fratt and husband, Greg of Allen, Texas; brothers, Howard Richardson of Ethelsville, Alabama, Ott Richardson of Columbus, Mississippi, Larry Richardson of Columbus, Mississippi, and Johnny Richardson of Macon, Mississippi; sisters, Faye Richardson of Columbus, Mississippi, and Wilda Lehr of Columbus, Mississippi; sister-in-law, Louise Carter of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Joshua Montgomery, Ashley Harmond, Hunter Harmond, Addison Boone and husband, Carson, Kennedy Fratt, and Grant Fratt; and great granddaughter, Naomi Montgomery.
Mrs. Montgomery was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Roy Montgomery; parents, Lelon and Lottie Richardson; daughter, Carla Louise Montgomery; brothers, Lelon Richardson, Jr. and Chesley Richardson; and sisters, Evelyn Bailey and Ruby Richardson.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 16, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas. Interment will take place at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas at a later date.
