Betty Lou McCord

Betty Lou McCord died in McKinney, Texas on January 12, 2021 at the age of 94, under the care of Charlin Hospice, at Brookdale Stonebridge Ranch Assisted Living.

She was born in Russellville, Arkansas, grew up in North Little Rock, Arkansas, and lived most of her adult life in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

She was preceded in death by her husband James Doyle “Mac” McCord, and her parents Jewel and Doc Lasey, Paul Welsh, and her sister Earlyne Skarda.

Betty was a stay-at-home mother who enjoyed spending time with her two daughters, playing golf, riding her bicycle, and fishing at Blue Mountain Lake with her husband Mac.

When her daughter became adults, Betty entered the workforce.  She was a secretary to the business manager of the Southwest Times Record and at J.C. Penny, in Fort Smith.  In addition, she was business manager at Sparks Manor.

Betty is survived by her two daughters, Cindy Greer and husband John of Fort Smith and Peggy Flusche and husband Tim of Frisco, Texas.  She has four grandchildren: Jay Greer of Fort Smith, James Greer and wife Shanna of Monticello, Indiana, Amy Cohorn of Frisco Texas, and Tim Flusche Jr. of Little Elm, Texas. 

There are five great grandchildren:  Jack Greer of Fort Smith, Brady and Kylie Greer of Monticello, Indiana, and Elizabeth and John Cohorn of Frisco, Texas.

Donations may be made to your local hospice organization.

A private graveside service at the Fort Smith National Cemetery will be held at a later date.
