Betty Lou Nichols

January 27, 1946 - October 8, 2019

Betty Lou (Chambless) Nichols of McKinney, Texas passed away on October 8, 2019 at the age of 73.  She was born on January 27, 1946 to Dolphus and Vera (Bills) Chambless in Paris, Texas.  Betty married Tolbert Jackson Nichols, Jr. on January 16, 1964 in Paris, Texas. She was the store manager for Mrs. Baird’s Thrift Store in McKinney, Texas for many years.

Betty is survived by her son, Mike Nichols and wife, Diana of McKinney, Texas; daughter, Penny Lanham and husband, Sterling of Azle, Texas; grandsons, Michael Nichols, Jr., Zachary Nichols, both of McKinney, Texas; Matt Lanham and wife, Katlynn of Cypress, Texas; granddaughters, Ashley Sloan and husband, Brandon of Watagua, Texas and Katie Mayo and husband, Brian of Wylie, Texas; great-grandchildren, Luke, Nora, Taylor, Collin, Colbie, and Dawes; and numerous other loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tolbert Nichols, Jr.; her parents, Dolphus and Vera Chambless; and her brothers, Clark Chambless and Jerry Chambless.

Betty had a passion for her family and church. After her retirement, she was involved in various volunteer organizations. She made weekly visits to the Alzheimer’s unit at a local nursing home for several years and eventually volunteered two days a week at the Community Health Clinic in McKinney, Texas. Betty was a professional cake decorator and loved to bake for her family. She also spent time crafting and making cards that she would send to family and to members of her church.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Frisco Church of Christ, 8648 Main St., Frisco, Texas 75033.  The family will receive friends during a remembrance gathering on Friday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.

The family requests memorials be made in Betty’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Our dear sister and friend has gone to her great reward. She is resting in the Savior's arms now. On behalf of the elders, members and myself as minister of our Frisco church family to the family of Betty we love you and pray for you ... lift up your eyes unto the hills from whence cometh our Help... our help cometh from the Lord.
