Betty Lou Cooper

Betty Lou (Redfern) Cooper of Whitesboro, Texas passed away August 18, 2016 at the age 78.  She was born October 6, 1937 to Ernest Otto and Gladys (Richardson) Redfern in the community of Platter, Oklahoma. Betty was a graduate of Colbert High School and loved playing high school basketball.  She married Lee Stone in December of 1955, and had two children, Regina and Randy.  Betty worked over the years at Levis Straus, sewing blue jeans, as well as being a secretary at Colbert Schools and Arlene’s Catfish.  She retired from Texas Instruments in Sherman, Texas after 30 years with the company.  Betty then married Lamon Cooper on January 30, 1986 in Rockwall, Texas and moved to McKinney, Texas.  He also preceded her in death. She loved making crafts and sewing with her dearest friends.  Betty loved having garage sales in her later years after moving to Whitesboro, Texas. She was of the Baptist faith.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Regina Sorrell and husband, David; son, Randy Stone and wife, Michelle all of Colbert, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Michelle Harper and husband, Bart of Madill, Oklahoma, Ryan Sorrell and wife, Shana of Mustang, Oklahoma, Magan Marburger and husband, Blaine of Denison, Texas; she was “Granny” to six great-grandchildren who she loved very much, Avery, Hayden, Parker, Jackson, Marlee and Nolan; and numerous other family and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and two sisters.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, August 22, 2016 at First Baptist Church, 307 N. Franklin, Colbert, Oklahoma 74733. Interment will be at 3:30 p.m. at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas.
