Betty Jean Richards of Allen, Texas passed away May 24, 2023 at the age of 93. She was born to Hary Weaver and Katie Vivian (Clark) Clements on November 21, 1929 in Montgomery, Alabama. At the age of 20, she married a handsome gentleman named Henry B. Richards. To this union three children were born. Henry Bryant, Norakate Elizabeth (Kathy), and Beverly Jean. Betty was a dedicated member of “Daughters of the American Revolution” for 25 years. She and Henry moved into Heritage Ranch in 2009, it was there that she had a host of dear friends who have been there for her to the very end, upon Henry’s death, she moved to independent living in Christian Care Community in Allen, Texas. Betty Jean loved living there with loving caring neighbors that she bonded with. On September 2022, her health required her to move into an extensive care unit where she resided until her transition with the Lord.
Betty Jean is survived by her son, Henry Bryant Richards (Tina) of Kerrville, Texas; daughter, Kathy Vilas Williams (Danny) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; loving grandchildren, Fernando Vilas (Candance), Avelina Watts (Alan), Leland Kratcher (Areil), Kendahl Kratcher (Karen); great grandchild, Henry Watts; niece, Elizabeth Jean Mayhue (Raymond) (whom she was named after); nephew, Mark Clements (Kim); and a host of other loving family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas. The service will be livestreamed at https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/betty-jean-clements-richards. After the service, the recorded livestream will be available at the same link location. Interment will follow at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation 2 hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
