Betty Jean Pitzer, age 92, of McKinney, Texas, passed away January 1, 2018. Betty Jean was born December 24, 1925, in Lecompte, Louisiana, to George Brythal and Jennie (Dyer) McKenzie. She married Sidney Pitzer on November 15, 1958, in Dallas, Texas.
Betty Jean met Sid at First United Methodist Dallas in 1957, where it was love at first sight. They had three daughters. Betty Jean relished being a wife and mother and devoted her life to her family. She had marvelous creativity and displayed it in the countless meals she cooked, the clothes she sewed, and the paintings she created. She loved her family and her savior, Jesus Christ with a deep and abiding passion.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years and love of her life, Sid Pitzer of McKinney, Texas; daughters, Anne Lynette Waldrop and husband, Russ of Keller, Texas, Deborah Coatney of Olathe, Kansas, and Karen Hopkins of McKinney, Texas; and grandchildren Sarah Crosby, Joy Waldrop, Preston Waldrop, Harrison Coatney, Hannah Coatney, Hope Coatney, Carter Hopkins, and Shelby Hopkins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Claudia O’Neal.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon, on Friday, January 5, 2018, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening at the funeral home.
