Betty Jo Godwin, age 78, of Allen, Texas, passed away April 22, 2010 at the Garnet Hill home located in Wylie, Texas. She was born October 8, 1931, in Spear, Oklahoma, to Luther and Lena Marie Songer. On October 23, 1947, Betty married R.W. Godwin in Plano, Texas. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother (GGMA) & was even a great-great-grandmother. Throughout her life, she was a wonderful housewife, who enjoyed crafting, knitting, sewing and quilting. She was greatly loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing her and will be dearly missed. She is survived by her son, Rick Godwin of Anaheim, CA; daughters, Donna Gibson of Anaheim, CA and Debbie Geer of Allen, TX; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; her sisters, Edna Songer, Pat Wolfe, Billie Bacon, Susie Shaw, and brothers, Johnny Songer and Jimmy Songer. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, R.W. Godwin, and her sister, Ruby Songer Kelley. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in McKinney, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Pastor Doyle Davidson, David Kaspareit and Kathy Mai officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Allen Cemetery.
