Bettie Tadlock Chaney passed away September 5, 2023 in Denton, Texas at the age of 83. She was born to James Eugene and Ruth (Parrish) Tadlock on February 6, 1940 in Marietta, Texas.
Bettie graduated from Farmersville High School in 1957. She graduated from North Texas State University, present day UNT, with a bachelor's degree in education. She went to teach second grade at the Perfin Air Force Base, where she married her husband, Bobby in 1962. Bettie had two daughters, Eugenia Kathleen “Kitsy” and Kimberly Diane. She stayed home raising her daughters, and then went back to school, earning her master’s degree. Bettie taught for several decades, often retiring from one school, and then beginning at another. She taught at TWU, UNT, middle schools and grade schools. When not teaching, Bettie enjoyed studying her family’s genealogy. She enjoyed gardening and had a green thumb, always having countless plants in the house and a beautiful garden outside. Her true joy was being a grandmother- she was very proud of her grandchildren. She supported them and was always enthusiastic about their concerts and dance recitals.
Bettie is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Dianne Bankowski and Kim’s husband, Brian of Denton, Texas; grandchildren, Todd, Emily, Madeline, and Kathryn; and great grandchildren, Liam, Ben, and Sadie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, JE and Ruth Tadlock, daughter, Kitsy Maese, and brother, David Tadlock.
