Beryl Marie Featherston entered her heavenly home on Wednesday, January 4 in Farmersville, TX at the age of 91 with her family at her bedside.
Beryl was born in Ranger, Texas on April 6, 1931 to Albert Aaron Miller and Azella Ellen (Riddle) Miller. She went to public schools in Fort Worth, Texas and attended Hardin-Simmons University where she met her future husband James B. (J.B.) Featherston. Beryl married J.B. January 25, 1951 in Ft. Worth, Texas. Together they had 3 children.
After raising her children to school age in Wichita Falls, Texas, Beryl re-started and finished her education at Midwestern State University. She went on to a passionate career as a 1st and 3rd grade teacher at Cunningham School in Wichita Falls.
With her husband, Beryl was a co-founder of Grace Church in Wichita Falls, where she taught children's Sunday School and was active in the music programs. She was a devoted student of the Bible and taught the Scriptures one-on-one, led many study groups, and was active in the Bible Memory Association.
She and J.B. moved to Dallas in 1982 and were active in Northwest Bible Church and Central American Missions. Beryl was a supporter of the Dallas Symphony and enjoyed the activities of the Prestonwood West Gourmet Dinner Club.
In 1994, J.B. retired, and they moved to Emerald Bay on Lake Palestine, near Tyler. There she was active in the Ladies Golf Association and Emerald Bay Community Church, where she continued to teach young children. She and J.B. were supporters of the East Texas Symphony, and Beryl was president of the Tyler Music Coterie from 2003 to 2005.
Beryl is survived by: her son, James Barrett “Barry” Featherston Jr. and his wife Katie of Dublin, New Hampshire; daughter, Laurie Ellen Wilcher and her husband David of Farmersville, Texas; son, Carter Miller Featherston and his wife Cindy of Covington, Louisiana. Grandchildren: Lily Doenmez (Baran), Ethan Featherston (Gina Basiliere), James P. Featherston, David Wilcher Jr. (Kristin), Derrick Wilcher (Taylor), Theresa Featherston, Parker Featherston, Megan Featherston, 4 great grandchildren and 2 siblings, Albert Aaron Miller Jr. and Leah Miller Bedford, and many nieces and nephews.
Beryl is preceded in death by her parents, husband, J.B. Featherston and brother, Joseph Miller.
A Celebration of life will be held in honor of James and Beryl Featherston at the chapel of Grace Church on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 2:00 PM
