Mrs. Bertha Mae Stevens, age 83, of McKinney, Texas passed away May 7, 2009, at the Medical Center of McKinney. She was born on November 25, 1925, in Oklahoma to Charles and Rosie Evelyna (Lewis) Roberts. She married Lucious Stevens in 1940, in McKinney, Texas. Mrs. Stevens was a member of the Owens Chapel Church of God In Christ in McKinney, where she was a church mother. She is survived by her sons, Jessie Owens and wife, Dorothy of McKinney, Charles Owens and wife, Gracie of Plano, Texas, David Owens and wife, Kathleen of Dallas, Texas, Elton Kinchen and wife, Brenda of McKinney, James Kinchen and wife, Irene of San Diego, California, Nathan Kinchen and wife, Jackie of Garland, Texas, Clyde Kinchen and wife, Mary of Plano, and Robert Kinchen of Chula Vista, California; daughters, Shirley Owens of Plano and Florida Stevens of Dallas, Texas; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives. Mrs. Stevens was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lucious Stevens, daughters, Lena Mae Stevens and Bertha Lee Stevens; brother, Dennis Palmer, Isaac Roberts, Samuel Roberts, Louis Roberts and Jimmy Roberts; sisters, Margie Roberts, Alberta Roberts and Viola Bell. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, May 15, 2009, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 7:00 p.m., Thursday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home. Officiating as pallbearers will be Mr. Billy Wilson, Mr. Kenneth Gray, Mr. Billy Wayne Williams, Mr. Anthony Tate, Mr. Anthony Montgomery and Mr. Lonnie Austin. Honorary pallbearers will be Mrs. Stevens’s grandsons.
